FAQ’S | PLASMA CUT METAL SIGN QUESTIONS.
Our frequently asked questions to help make up your mind when placing an order. We want everything to be just right for you. So, feel free and ask further questions.
What finish will my plasma cut metal sign have?
CNC Plasma Cut Sign can be supplied in one of three finishes. (RAW) Raw and untreated, this will rust over time, giving a great look – This is our standard finish. The raw finish may have odd surface marks but nothing major. This is very normal for sheet material and can be sanded/burnished out, or wire brushed with a grinder. We other two types of finishes are (RAW+LAC) raw and clear lacquer coated, which will help protect the ‘steel’ look for several years to come and (PAT) a patinated finish which makes it look rusty and aged.
The ‘rusty’ patinated (PAT) finish is a layer of oxidised material artificially generated and is powdery and can be loose for a few days or weeks (the main image above is patinated). If you want to keep your sign simple, then choose (RAW). When you get your sign or artwork thoroughly degrease it before putting it outside. Then just let mother nature do her job.
We strongly recommend that you have your metal signs and artwork in (RAW) raw/untreated. Like this way, you can make the sign your own. By either leaving it as is or finishing painting it to compliment your house or premises.
Can I customise my metal sign? | Plasma cutting Menorca
The simple answer is YES. You can customise your sign to a degree but we will need to send you artwork to approve. For customisations, there might be a slight price change if your customisation requires extra material or further labour. Obviously, names and numbers can be changed without any cost as that only makes sense. Sign dimensions could be changed along with font type.
When choosing a new or replacement font please visit Google Fonts and select them from there as this is an easy location for us all. Alternatively, open up your Microsoft Word and choose one of those fonts as they are often standard across all platforms.
Please note standard signs are delivered without any fixing holes as this is often so much easier when it comes to lining up with mortar or brick lines. But if you require fixing holes in suitable corners just select this option above. We can also offer depending upon the sign design rear 6mm diameter studs. These are welded to the rear face and allow the use of blind holes in the mounting surface with the use of glue such as ‘No Nails’.
How do I tell you about my changes or customisations?
Contact us via the Contact Form on the Homepage describing what you need, and we will get back to you. Or secondly, select your desired product plus finish option/s from the information above. Then Add to Basket and proceed to Checkout. Once you have received your Order Confirmation email reply to it stating your customisation changes – Simple 🙂
How long will the metal signs last?
Good question, based upon the research done by the Americain Galvanisers Association (https://galvanizeit.org/) on the rate at which untreated steel corrodes. You will find their findings in the chart below these FAQs. Needless to say, a 3mm cold-rolled steel sign in a marine environment with no protection should last 15 to 17 years.
When will I get my metal sign or design?
Standard designs with no changes aim to get the item made and despatched in 4 to 7 working days. If it is a Custom Designed sign with a number or name changes, we aim to get the artwork to you in 3 to 5 working days and once approved your bespoke item will be made and despatched in 4 to 7 working days. However, if your project or design is urgent, please contact us in advance of ordering to best help you.
We will keep you up to date with images/videos during the process, and you will also receive tracking information should you have requested delivery.

Something went wrong | Returns
If your sign, house name or design arrives and is damaged, you must take images of the packaging from the outside to demonstrate an issue with the carrier. Plus images of the damage itself. All this must be done within 2 days of being signed for else we can not help. We are happy to accept returned items within 10 days of delivery but can not accept any designs or signs that have been customised. All items must be delivered back in the same condition they were delivered in. Return delivery charges are your responsibility. Once everything is in order, a Credit Note will be issued.
Can I change the font or letter style on my metal sign?
Let’s talk some more about fonts and the different types and styles. If we look at a regular font such as Aerial or Helvetica, these are nice easy fonts to cut in general as they are constructed or designed with constant width for all elements. Thus are easier to cut than say a stylish font such as calligraphy styled font, which has variable widths and often ends or begins in points or extremely narrow sections.
Therefore we need to be realistic in what we can choose, but this leaves hundreds that are useable.
